摘要

In coping with an increasingly harsh business environment, automakers aim to enhance their production efficiency by reducing and regrouping many existing vehicle models. Cost reduction efforts are particularly directed toward standardization of exterior parts and instruments which widely vary in design as compared with other automotive parts. In this context, FMS is strongly demanded since it is capable of dealing with multifarious elements involved in vehicle model and design. This paper describes Nippondenso's fully automatic production system that can flexibly handle extensive changes in design of instrument panels and dials.
