Specialty Acrylates and Methacrylates Panel Progress Report

The Specialty Acrylates & methacrylates ("SAM") Panel is a group of companies who are negotiating with the Environmental Protection Agency to reduce the extraordinary regulatory restrictions the Agency places on new chemicals in this class that undergo Premanufacture Notification under the Toxics Substances Control Act. SAM has successfully negotiated an elimination of the "cancer" label on new acrylates and methacrylates in return for a phased testing program that will identify whether these chemicals warrant exposure controls as carcinogens. The first phase of testing is complete and further supports our negotiations to reduce or eliminate regulatory burdens.
