White ITX

2-Isopropyl thioxanthone (ITX) is perhaps the widest used and best known thioxanthone photoinitiator used in the radiation curing industry for curing pigmented coatings. Research in our laboratories on the manufacturing process of ITX has resulted in producing "white ITX" - ITX that is very pale in color. Studies on this "white ITX" revealed that the initiator activity is not adversely affected by the new process. The paper discusses the results obtained on comparing the performance of white ITX with regular ITX as well as other initiators.
