Performance of the three channel real time radiation monitor installed on a 250 KV electron sterilizer used for controlled depth of sterilization of medical devices, is reported. This system monitors the bremsstrahlung generated by the electron beam at the window plane. Individual collimated solid state radiation detectors are used at three points across the web to monitor the current density. Software has been developed for analysis and display of these signals so that real time, simulatneous determinations of beam uniformity, dose and electron beam energy are possible. The performance of the system, when used in parallel with NIST traceable film dosimetry, will be described. Configurations and initial results are shown for other production processors in which data may be obtained with temporal resolution as high as 100 msec. for purposes of product quality assurance. The data is logged to disk for archival recording.
