Spindleless instrument for the roundness measurement of precision balls

摘要

This paper presents a realized measuring instrument for the roundness measurement of balls. Instead of employing a spindle, it uses the surface of the ball itself as a geometrical reference. This instrument enables us to measure the roundness of one inch steel balls with a nanometer resolution.
