1. The important advantages of double-curvature flip bucket are that the bucket may bedesigned fast and efficiently by means of computer-aided design and thereby reducing the tedious laboratory tests and modifications traditionally made to the bucket configuration.2. As shown in Fig.5, the computer configuration of the double-curvature flip bucket is beneficial to free drainage. This is true not only for our example case-Long-Yang-Xia lowest outlet flip bucket, but also for any double curvature flip bucket, such as those of the intermediate outlet work and spillway which are also designed by us and tested in the same laboratory in North-West Institute of Hydraulic Research.3. The double curvature structure is beneficial to prevention from cavitation damage caused by high-velocity flow because of the much higher pressure on the invert than that in conventional cylindrical-type flip bucket.
