MATIC: AN ASIAN INITIATIVE ON COLLABORATIVE ENGINEERING FOR MANUFACTURING INDUSTRIES

摘要

MATIC, an acronym for Manufacturing Technology supported by advanced and integrated information system through international cooperation is a cooperative R&D programme involving six Asian countries including China, Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand. The objective is to research into the use of information technology to support collaborative engineering and manufacturing in the region. This paper describes the research issues and possible impact of this project on the development of the manufacturing industry in the region. It also presents a brief summary of the project implementation in Singapore.
