The running-in procedures of circular-arc gear drives with center-distance error Δf_a are calculated using three-dimensional boundary element method program-3DBEMC for elasticity contact problems which is developed by the author, and the influences of center-distance error on running-in procedure, running-in effect, load distribution factor along contact locus and strength are analyzed. Comparison between circular-arc and involute gears is presented. The causes of "false running-in" in circular-arc gear drives are also analyzed in this paper.
