Motion of individual tablets in a rotating drum was calculated numerically using the Newton's equations of motion and the DEM (Discrete Element Method) model. A computer program was developed to investigate phenomena important from the view-point of practical operation. Realistic pictures of the three dimentional motion of tablets are obtained. In the simulation, the effects of tablet size, tablet loading and rotation speed on surface time and circulation time were examined. The calculated results of such quan-tities show the same tendency as previous experiments.
