This paper devlops a set of imperatives for unit-based organizational learning. The necessity for effective teams, or organization al units, has been taken as an a priori requirement for enhanced organizational performance. Robinson, Clemson, and Keating (1996) have previosly introudced the concept of the learning unit as a fundamental element for generating advanced processes of organizational learing. The purpose of this paper is not to "challenge" tema concepts or the necessity of effective teams for improved performance and learning in organization. On the contrary, the learning unit concept is explored through a set of imperatives designed examine unit-based organizational learning.
