In this paper,a large-scale ATM switching fabric,Growable ATM Switching(GAS) fabric[l], is examined and its disadvantages are presented,and then an improved GAS fabric with Multiple Priority-classes and Multiple stage-Partitions architecture(MPMP-GAS) is proposed.The cell loss performance of the MPMP-GAS fabric is simulated by computer,and results show that the MPMP-GAS fabric has the better performance /complexity characteristics than the traditional GAS fabric.
