Reactions between TiCl_4-n-hexane solution and groups on the surface of silica gel were carried out. The effects of activation temperature reaction temperature and the concentration of TiCl4-n-hexane solution were investigated, with special emphasis on the amount of silanol groups and the amount of supported titanium on the silica gel surface. A preferred operation strategy was developed to control the modification of silica gel surface.
