Latest design and performance criteria of an electron meam web coater for Mass Production of Transparent Barrier

During the late 1980's there was a small, but growing demand for transparent barrier coatings deposited on webs. The first production process established to meet this demand used modification kits designed for retrofitting existing conventional metallizers. These kits were basically radiation heated furnaces (effusion) that replaced the resistance boat sources. This technology is still a possibility for depositing SiO sub x or Al sub 2 O sub 3.
