Process evaluation and conceptual design of a process and system for the mass production of transparent protectors.

The objective of this engineering project is to propose conceptual designs that can be used to develop a manufacturing process and system that would be capable of manufacturing transparent protectors (TP) with the expected quality and production rate of 180 TP/min or above. Quality is defined as a product with no scratches, consistency of length and with correct folding.;Transparent Protectors (TP) are used to cover and protect business cards. The actual process is neither capable of producing TP with the expected quality nor is capable of accomplishing the production rate of 180 TP/min.;The manufacturing process of TP has been divided in five production stations. Each station performs a specific task that contributes to the forming of the final product.;Each station is evaluated and design recommendations to be used as guidelines to design a new manufacturing process and system are presented. In addition, each process is described in detail and process limitations presented.
