摘要

An isothermal molding process can produce plastic parts with few or none of those orientation effects of injection molded parts. This is achieved by maintaining the mold at the melt temperature. Although isothermally molded parts have weaker mechanical properties, there are several benefits gained. Residual stress is significantly less indicating that the parts have closely homogeneous compositions and will exhibit nearly isotropic behavior. This gives isothermally molded parts a far greater predictability than standard injection molded parts.
