Pregenerated microcomposites using poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) and a thermotropic liquid crystalline polymer (TLCP) are made, and the properties are compared to those of in situ composites of the same material as well as those of a glass-filled system. A difference in morphology between the two composites is observed. The microcomposites have a lower degree of mechanical anisotropy than do in situ composites. Microcomposite properties should increase towards those of glass-filled PET as the generation process is improved.
