Economization techniques for large scale time domain analysis with applications to fatigue life of jackets

This paper presents new economization techniques for the calculation of stress responses to non-linear loads in the time domain, involving a combination of smoothing, mode projection, FFT as well as residual modes responses. The considerable reductions in computer resources requirements thus achieved permit full model, non-linear time domain calculations of offshore structures such as jackets and jack-ups.
