Initiation and propagation buckling in deepwater pipelines

摘要

Experimental research has been conducted suing small scale models representative of deepwater pipelines to investigate initiation and propagation buckling. A computer program has been implemented to simulate sectional damage and then the residual strength under external pressure. Numerical and experimental results have been successfully correlated. Propagation pressures obtained experimentally have been compared with results obtained from different proposed formulas in order to identify the most suitable ones for design purposes.
