APPLICATION OF REED-SOLOMAN CODES ON HDTV INFORMATION TRANSMISSION

In this paper, we apply R-S codes, which can correct random-error and burst-error, to HDTV information transmission. The structure of R-S codes and system simulation scheme are presented. The results made by computer simulation have shown: the probability of error Pe can be reduced from 10~(-5) to 10~(-8), the coding gain of transmission system will be increased 3dB-5dB by applying the concatenated coding of R-S codes and TCM.
