GLASS MAKING IN A CHANGING SOCIETY

摘要

This paper describes some of the new challenges a glass technologist faces to respond to the demands of society. Keywords in this respect are: Product Quality, Energy Conservation and Pollution Control.Special attention has been paid to primary measures to reduce Hue gas emissions and energy consumption, like cullet recycling, combustion control, oxy-fuel combustion, batch preheating, etc. Process optimisation and - control by modern techniques like mathematical simulation has also be discussed.It is shown that the glass maker often is forced to take decisions without proper insight into the consequences of his actions. It is of primary concern to the glass industry to find ways to avoid these situations by anticipation and better understanding of the process.
