Since the early 1970s, the Stople method has been used as the basis for calculating the ampacity of cables in cable trays. The drive for more cost-effective solutions, however, has focused attention on the conservative assumptions inherent in the Stolpe methodology. Using relatively easy-to-obtain cable tray envelope surface temperature measurements, factors can be developeod to tailor the Stople model to a particular installation. This refined model allows more realistic cable ampacities to be established and has resulted i a genral 30
