In generation expansion planning there are many variables affected by the uncertainties of the future. These include the load growth forecast, discount rates and escalation rates. It is possible to capture the uncertainties in these variables by means of expert opinions represented in the form of fuzzy sets. It may seem from Figure 5 that the number of "optimal results" presented to a decision makers may result in confusion on their part, and that a single crisp or fuzzy result would be better appreciated. However, the decision maker would be better served if the complexity of the planning uncertainties are represented in the results in an integral form, which will give a greater appreciaton of what the future may hold in so far as planning for the long term is concerned.
