Ozone is increasingly used as a disinfectant and oxidant for a variety of water treatment processes. Rational design for ozonation systrems is made difficulat by the lack of validated models for the prediction of liquid-and gas-phse ozone concentrations in the contacting system. Current designs include single and multiple stage cocurrent and countercurrent lqiuid flow contactors, which may or may not be completely mixed in the liquid phase. The results presented will be a portion of a research project designed to study ozone mass transfer and reaction in ozone contactor systems.
