This study is based on the characterization of the spillages made by a factory which produces mono and diazoic dyes, and which at present subjects its spillage to chlorination t4reatment before pouring it into the River Ebro (Spain). The behavior of these effluents, when subjected to pH basic and pH acid ozone treatment, was also studied. To this end, characterization of the water w as made by concentrating the dample through liquid-lqiuid extraction, follwing U.S.E.P.A.Method 625, whilst 120 different organic compounds were identified through GC/MS. The quantification of the majority compounds was made through GC/FID. A study was carried out of the behavior of the spillage material when subjected to ozone with two different pH values (basic and acid), establishing in both cases, the treatment's degree of efficiency.
