摘要

The effect of ionizing radiation on various fiber parameters has been examined. It was demonstrated that when the real refractive index increases, the V number increases as does the numerical aperture. The percentage of power propagating in the cladding decreases with increasing real refractive index. Small changes in the refractive index will induce additional modes to form. The effect of radiation on fiber dispersion was reasoned to be negligible for short lengths of fibers ($LS 2 km).
