Abstract: per introduces a modification to the bidirectional traveling plane wave decomposition, whereby one can select new basis functions resulting in different representations for a solution. This freedom of choice facilitates the solving of the homogeneous as well as the nonhomogeneous scalar wave equation. We shall also demonstrate the bidirectional method by solving two source problems: point charge moving uniformly in a lossless dielectric, and the Green's function for the Poisson equation.!13
