Direct ozonatin and the porcess o foxygeation in the presence of UV irradiation (O_2/UV) were both found in htis study to be effective in promoting to certain extent,the biodegradability of phenol,cresols and monochlorophenols in aqueous solutions.When using BOD bottles to represent the dilute biologicla systems,Phenolic sampels pretreated by O_2/UV seemed to exhibit better biodegradability than those pretreated by direct ozonation in termas of the rate of decomposition and the period needed for microbiologicla adaption
