The effectiveness of two sliding microap congurations, with a height of 1:5% of blade chord, were examined for simultaneous vibration and noise reduction under heavy BVI conditions in descending ight aμ = .15. Th fierst was a dual microap cofguration, and the second one was afive microap configuration. The performance of the microaps were also compared to a dual plain ap cofiguration. A new saturation con- trol algorithm was developed for limiting the microap or ap deections such that best utilization of on blade controllers implemented through multiple control surfaces is achieved. The conclusions demonstrate the effectiveness and control authority of the microap for simultaneous BVInoise and vibration control in rotorcraft and establish the microap as a viable active device for on-blade rotor control.
