Porous ceramics (cordierite, alumina and magnesia) for high temperature application as a refractory and filter were produced by based on gelcasting and its modified techniques. The bubbles were mechanically introduced into the slurry consisting of water, ceramics powders, dispersant, gelling agents and surfactant. The porosity and pore size of the green body were controlled by changing the surfactant type, concentration of the gelling agents, and the slurry temperature. In this paper, we will describe various shaping techniques for porous ceramics by gelcasting.
