The influence of boron addition on microstructure and room-temperature mechanical properties of metal injection moulded (MIM) Ti-6AI-4V has been studied. 0.02 wt % of boron powder was added to T1-6AI-4V powder prior to mixing with a water soluble binder and injection moulding. Standard tensile bar samples were produced via the MIM process. Microstructural analysis and mechanical properties measurements of as moulded samples and that of hot isostatic pressed (HIP) samples were carried out. The strength and ductility of MIM samples improved significantly as the porosity decreased after HIP'ing and with the small addition of 0.02wt% of boron.
