This paper deals with fabrication conditions of a wire saw by electrical discharge machining (EDM). In the production of electrodeposited wire saw, strong acids are used and the depositing speed is slow. To overcome these problems, deposition method by EDM with a compressed WC-Co powder as an electrode has been proposed. The appropriate discharge current and open-gap voltage for a wire saw, fabrication pressure of the green compact electrode and a core material were experimentally determined for a 0.2-mm stainless steel wire.
