Acceleration feedback has been investigated in the past to achieve further improvement with respect to stiffness and accuracy of servo drive mechanisms. Especially, direct drives based show significant improvements by using acceleration signals as an additional feedback. This paper introduces a control scheme with acceleration feedback deduced from a new high-resolution optical encoder. Tests are performed on a linear motor stage. The impacts of internal disturbances on the positional accuracy and speed stability are analysed with conventional control and disturbance observer based control.
