Automatic Validation of Operational ProceduresUse for SPOT5 Satellite Qualification

SPOT5 satellite was successfully launched in May 2002. A new validation technique wasused for SPOT5 technical et operational qualification.This technique is called automatic because it enables to test satellite operationalprocedures without operator interaction when executed on a satellite simulator.First, the main characteristics of this validation technique are given. Then, the use ofautomatic validation and the results obtained for SPOT5 qualification are described.Procedures defined to recover from the anomalies of the pyrotechnic unit are particularlycomplex and also critical because these procedures are used during LEOP. Theirvalidation is taken by way of an example. To conclude advantages of this approach andpossible improvements are presented.
