The developments of SSTO and TSTO are in progress. One of the most promising configurations of SSTO and upper stage of TSTO is lifting body. In order to obtain fundamental aerodynamic characteristics of a lifting body experimental study has been conducted. The elliptical cone, whose ratio of major axis to minor axis is 3, is selected as baseline configuration of lifting body. Experiments have been conducted at subsonic, transonic and supersonic speed covering of freestream Mach number from 0.3 through 4.0. The results show the selected configuration has fairly good aerodynamic characteristics in subsonic, transonic and supersonic flow regime.
