Nursing Care Support using Ultrasonis Tag System in a Nursing Home - Evidenced-based nursing care using life log of the elderly

Evidence-based nursing is needed for enhancing quality of nursing. It enables a caregiver to design a desirable life pattern of each elderly person based on qualitatively understanding of his/her life. But the patterns are not well-known so the nursing support plan is made by care giver's experience and intuition. This paper clarifies needs at a nursing home based on the survey conducted by the authors, and proposes a system for supporting evidence-based nursing care using life log content of an elderly person. The prototype system was installed in the nursing home at Tokyo. The system was composed of an ultrasonic tagging system which can measure the activities with minimal privacy invasion.
