Present status and needs of human resource development in the nuclear field in the philippines

The Philippines is actively pursuing the development and spread of the many applications of nuclear technology in industry, agriculture, medicine, research and other areas, therefore, the need for trained personnel in nuclear techniques and radiation protection. It also embarked on a nuclear power program in the 1970's. The first nuclear power plant was nearing completion when Chernobyl and Three Mile Isla dn happened. Due to the change in political climate and support for the nuclear power program, the first nuclear power plant has been mothballed. However, there is a possibility for the introduction of nuclear power in the country's projected energy sources by the year 2020. The country has one research reactor, but at the present time it is undergoing repair and is not operational.
