This paper is intended to propose a numerical prediction method for local scour around an artificial fish reef, particularly a local scour. Laboratory experimetns were conducted to investigate the local scour around an artificial fish reef. The scour is found to develop at the corners of the fish reef and its depth is revealed to increase with increasing KC number. Further, a numerical calculation for the flow field around the fish reef was performed to investigate the flow structure in the near field of a fish reef. The vortices are revealed to closely relate to the local scour, where the sand transport rate is proposed to include the vorticities, as well as velocity. The simulation results of sea bed change around an artificial fish reef show good agreement with the experimental ones.
