The availability of radioactive beams with reasonable intensities and good optical qualities makes possible the study of direct reactions induced by unstable nuclei. such experiments can be performed by measuring the energy and angle of light recoiling particles. High resolution position sensitive detectors usig silicon strip technology are well suited tools to determine the two-body kinematics of the reaction. The newly built and innovative array MUST, dedicated to such studies, will be presented and its performances discussed in the light of experiments performed at the GANIL accelerator.
