As one anti-seismic measure for electronic equipment, the authors are proposing the use of relatively stiff, high-damping laminated rubber, as a vibration-control device to be inserted between the legs of the equipment and the floor. This device is capable of reducing the effect of seismic acceleration against the equipment, thus preventing the equipment from falling or being damaged. Another benefit of this vibration-control device is that it is very compact in size, requiring only a small space. This paper investigates the vibration-control effect of this device against seismic-response wave on a building floor when applied on the equipment installed on the raised floor inside the building, based on the vibration tests using three-dimensional shaking table, and seismic response analysis.
