Base isolation is very effective on keeping safety during earthquakes (reduction of acceleration response at floors and inter-story drifts of structure, etc.). In order to promote construction of base isolated houses and development of isolators applicable to houses, performance required for base isolated houses has to be clarified. For base isolated houses, not only seismic performance but also safety and habitability against wind force are necessary to be discussed. To clarify behaviors of base isolated houses against the earthquake and wind disturbance, relationships between isolator characteristics and the responses of base isolated houses are discussed.
