Building up templates for nonrigid plane outlines

The authors study the outline synthesis problem of plane shapesbased on their landmark point set. The approach is invariant not only toglobal transformation groups but also to local deformations. The mainpoints of this approach are the characterization of an outline using asubset of points of its curve of curvatures and the use of certainspecific splines to interpolate between these points. Each outline isconsidered as a sample of a distribution of probability which means itdefines the pattern curve or shape
