As users of telecommunications continue to migrate their applications to digital services and utilize the service functions offered through these services,the issue of compatibility between premise equipment and services and service functions becomes increasingly important.Premise equipment should not only conform to specifications stated for the particular service that is being interfaced,but should also be compatible with the various service functions that promote user flexibility and service integration.The equipment should not only be functionally compatible,but should also adhere to performance specifictions to ensure quality transmission and efficient maintenance activities.This paper will describe various compatibility requirements when interfacing equipment to AT&T's ACCUNET(R) T1.5 Service and its various service functions.To understand these requirements,one must first understand that ACCUNET(R) T1.5 Service is and how its service functions can be utilized to add flexibility and value to a network configuration.
