As mentioned by Hogg and Chu (ref. 5), it is known that rain will influence the performance of microwave communication systems. The rain effects on a ground-based radome are of concern, and many studies on the prediction of a water film thickness (ref. 1) and experiemental investigations on the transmission loss of a wet radome with non-hydro-phobic and hydrophobic materials have been investigated (refs. 2,3,4,5). These studies show that the variation in water film thickness versus elevation angle in a wet radome may cause additional electromagnetic degradations, especially in the mm wave range.
