Sieving Method of Fine Powder by Electroformed Sheet

The time required to sieve posder increases as the particle size decreases. Then a new dry sieving method, which a sound oscillator and a little air flow are used, is tried for fine powder by an elctroformed sheet. In a field of the sound, a little air is flowed from upward of the sieve sheet to downward in order to increase the sieving rate. The purpose of this paper is to investigate about the effect in experiments. Three kinds of electroformed sheets are prepared and constructed to the respective sieves. Their aperture sizes are 45, 25 and 10 mum, respectively. Powder used are silicon carbide, zirconia and kaolin. For the silicon carbide, three kinds of size ditributions are prepared for each aperture sieve. All experiments are compared with the results of non air flow, that is, only sound field. As a result, the addition of a little air is effective for increasing the sieving rate of fine powder.
