1. In the ice without silica, the breakdown is determined by the surface breakdown in the crack. The apparent breakdown strength of ice is 0.3 MV/cm for ac voltage and 0.6 MV/cm for impulse voltage. Ice without silica has the self-healing of electrical insulation.
