Graphics growth at Clemson University

Interest in computer graphics has been steadily growing at Clemson University and has led to a very rapid expansion of graphics hardware and software. This paper is divided into four parts:

• The history of our graphics hardware acquisitions with comments about the advantages and disadvantages of particular devices.

• A discussion of software that runs on our system from the perspective of how it shaped our growth.

• A discussion of the amount of resources dedicated by Academic Computing Support (ACS, our user support group) to graphics.

• A discussion of future growth.
