A novel low-profile and wideband dual-polarized magneto-electric (ME) dipole antenna is presented for base-station application. The proposed antenna is excited by two orthogonal Γ-shaped probes, which can aslo improve its isolation. The isolation between the two ports is better than 30 dB over the operating frequency. By employing the metamaterial loadings which are fully arranging inside the magnetic dipole, the height of the proposed antennna can be decreased from 28 to 20 mm. Due to the specially designed notches etched in the radiated dipoles, an impedance bandwidth of 69.2% ranging from 1.71 to 3.60 GHz, together with a notch-band frequency bandwidth ranging from 2.35 to 2.55 GHz can be achieved.
