CONTINUOUS MONITOR FOR TRACE HARDNESS ANALYSIS

The development of an inexpensive monitor for trace hardness in water, designed to signal when a preset hardness value is exceeded, is described. The instrument, aimed at water treatment facilities where detection of a breakthrough is adequate, features a double beam colorimeter, solid state circuitry, and no moving parts. The instrument is singularly maintenance free, requires only five ml. per minute of sample and 240 ml. per day of reagent, and is suitable for use in industrial as well as laboratory locations.
