To precisely calculate a composition of O and B in a material mainly consisting of metal, and hardness of the material in a non-contact manner.SOLUTION: From the relationship of Fig. 5, it is generally difficult to estimate a Vickers hardness only from a (B/O)/M value calculated by the above method. However, if it is possible to determine in which region of regions with a Z sandwiched therebetween in Fig. 5 a sample exists, the Vickers hardness can be estimated from the (B/O)/M value. As mentioned above, a region on a left side with respect to the Z in Fig. 5 corresponds to a case where a composition ratio of O is large, and a region on a right side with respect to the Z corresponds to a case where the composition ratio of B is large. Consequently, it is possible to recognize to which region the sample belongs according to the O/M value and the B/M value. After all, the Vickers hardness can be calculated from the (B/O)/M value using the linear expression.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
