Samples from a trunk sewer system which showed previously relatively higher PFCs concentration were analyzed to identify their sources in Tokyo. The 13 PFCs, along with PFOS, which is slated for regulation, were analyzed. At the present study, PFCs were detected also at high concentrations in drainage from facilities of the electric machine industry, photo waste disposal and recycling industry, academic organizations, cleaning tool flushing business. At such businesses, higher concentrations of PFNA was also detected compared with PFOS and PFOA, which are more widely and frequently used in such industries. Actually, higher concentrations of PFCs were detected at the facilities that manufacture PFCs than those facilities which use these substances. Of the 14 targeted chemicals, 7 were detected: PFHxA, PFHxS, PFOA, PFOS, PFNA, PFDA, and PFUdA.
